Vision:

Okanogan Region of Washington State where every cat and dog has a home

Mission:

Our mission is to significantly reduce the overpopulation of cats and dogs in the Okanogan Region by offering affordable/free spay & neuter programs, providing emergency vet care as needed and developing partnerships with no kill rescues that will receive our unwanted cats and dogs and provide them with adoption services.

Core Beliefs:

I. Spay and Neuter is the key to solving the problem of cat and dog homelessness.

II. Low Income families and individuals must have access to affordable/free spay & neuter services for their cats and dogs.

III. Some targeted programs must be free, regardless of income.

IV. The transfer of unwanted adult cats and dogs and puppies and kittens to partner rescues is instrumental in finding them homes.

V. Emergency care must be free to all cats and dogs in need.

Did you know?

You can show your love for your pets and help support spay/neuter with a pet friendly license plate! All proceeds from the Spay * Neuter * Adopt license plates go to fund spay and neuter grants for non-profits. Okanogan Regional Humane can apply once a year for one of these grants, which provides us with funds to reach more animals in need and decrease the numbers of unwanted cats and dogs in our region.

It takes a lot to keep the clinic running, and we always need more supplies to ensure we can provide the best possible care for the animals. If you would like to help support us by donating any of these items, we have a wish list available! See our wish list on our Ways To Help page, or download our printable pdf copy.

Vision

Our Region of Washington State, Where Every Cat & Dog Has a  Home

Mission

Significantly reduce the overpopulation of cats and dogs in our region by offering affordable/free spay & neuter programs, providing emergency care as needed, and developing partnerships with no-kill rescues that will receive our unwanted cats and dogs and provide them with adoption services.

There is a three-part solution to solving this problem:

  • High Volume Spay & Neuter

  • Adoption

  • Transfer animals to partners who are better sourced to find forever homes for our forgotten cats and dogs

By purchasing a paver, you are helping to fund our Vision and Mission and focusing on the most important of the three - SPAY & NEUTER

  • Adoption & Transfer have been compared to bailing the water out of a basement that is already flooded.

  • Spay & Neuter has been compared to turning off the faucet

The pavers are located on the catio in the back of ORH Spay & Neuter Clinic, where our long-term foster cats are free to roam.

The catio has another purpose: to provide a venue for our fundraising events, Cat Cafe Soirees. A host/hostess invites nine of his/her favorite people and/or those who have a common interest and compassion in helping animals. ORH provides breakfast, brunch, or lunch and a 5-minute presentation. After we pass the hat, your guests are free to visit, interact with the few cats who don’t choose to hide, and have a tour of the clinic. Starting in 2023, we hope to be able to schedule one reservation per month during the months of May, June, July, August, September & October.

Dear Community Members,

It has long been known that the Okanogan region is a resource desert for animals, but we are working hard to improve this!

With help from our wonderful supporters, our team of dedicated individuals has brought to the community a spay and neuter clinic where we hope to triple the number of high-quality/high-volume spay and neuter surgeries. It will take time and there is still a lot of work ahead, but with your generous support and by joining together, we can do this!

Your donations will make a huge impact on our community by keeping animals off the streets and in loving homes.

Watch our new presentation that explains our three-tiered approach to controlling the overpopulation of cats and dogs in our communities.

Please call us at 509-422-9960 if you’re interested in scheduling a full presentation.

There are still thousands of unwanted cats and dogs in Okanogan and adjacent towns that need help. Currently, there is no comprehensive plan for animal care and control, and little hope that any will be offered in the future. Our goal is to fix this problem! To continue offering our services and programs, we need your help- 90% of our funding comes from donations from our amazing supporters.
